There's not really anything to do here at this stage in the game. You can buy and sell items with the man having a picnic and, when you obtain a fishing rod later, you can fish in the river. Aside from that though, there's nothing else to do but head back out to the world map. Any items that you sell that there is only 1 obtainable copy in the entire game will appear in the man's list of purchasable items.
