It's not important to talk to the townsfolk, but below is what they'll say if you talk to them
Gossiping with the Townsfolk 1
Old man
"Oh, fairies are rare. Well, I said that before."
"Will you eat lunch with me?"
Armoured woman
"I thought about going to the church to offer my greetings, but... I want to stay on guard."
"I can also use magic, so I'm a little comfortable about traveling."
Man in apron
"Again, the priest isn't coming back... Oh well."
Woman by fountain
"In this town, the items you can buy aren't very useful."
"Regarding the fortuneteller in town, she looks famous, but somewhat suspicious."
Boy
"(You two) Onee-chans have a sort of earthy smell."
Make your way over to the purple-roofed house and enter.
Meeting the Fortuneteller (event)
Chante
"Hm? I hear something."
Elise
"It's true. I wonder if the fortuneteller is in."
Chante
"How should I put it? If we just waited obediently, I wonder if we wouldn't have had to waste our strength..."
"Excuse me!"
Chante and Elise enter the house
Chapter 2 - Welcome to the Fortuneteller's House
Elma
"Welcome to my house."
Chante
"..."
"What the...!?"
"It's you from before!"
Elise
"What's wrong, Nee-san?"
"Oh, nice to meet you. Are you the fortuneteller?"
Chante
"Heh!? Elise, what are you saying?"
Elma
"Aah, I'm Elma. As you can see, I'm love and valour's genius fortuneteller."
Chante
(Eeh? What's up with this atmosphere? It's like a first encounter!)
"Er... What are you doing here!?"
Elise
"Nee-san, why are you making such a fuss? Don't get so excited!"
Chante
"Because! Ah! Eh!?"
Elise
"Mm~!"
Chante
"Um... Yes, I'm sorry."
Elma
"So, what is it that you two wanted me to foretell?"
Elise
"Ah, yes. About that..."
(Screen fade)
Elise
"So in short, we're looking for the witch. We heard a rumour that we'd find her in the ruins around town."
Elma
"I see..."
"I understand the circumstances. Go to The remains of Fire."
Chante
"..."
Elma
"..."
Chante
"... That's it?"
"That was awfully easy! Doesn't fortunetelling involve some suspicious spell into the crystal ball? How can the turtle shell be scorched when you didn't do anything?"
Elma
"Hmph! Such a performance isn't within my belief!"
Elise
"You're being impolite, Nee-san."
"The witch is at The remains of Fire?"
Elma
"Well, this is fortunetelling, so it's up to you whether or not to believe it. However, if you go, it won't be a waste... perhaps."
Chante
"This is suspicious..."
Elise
"Yeah, but going elsewhere is aimless."
"The remains of Fire, right...? Thank you very much."
Chante and Elise leave
Elma
"..."
"Erasing memories... Is that another effect that fairy powder has...? I'll have to avoid its effect."
"This could be extremely dangerous... I can't be carefree about it."
Outside the house, Chante and Elise are hanging around by the door
Chante
"...Hey, Elise. Don't you recognize the fortuneteller from earlier?"
Elise
"What's that about earlier, Nee-san?"
"..."
Chante
"?"
Elise
"Since the time we went to The remains of Earth, I've been feeling dizzy..."
Chante
"Wait, are you feeling okay? Do you want to take a break?"
Elise
"No, I'm already feeling better. Thank you for worrying about me."
Chante
"Naturally! Because I'm your older sister."
Elise
"Yeah... Thank you."
Chante
"All right! Then, anyhow, let's go take a look at that remains of fire place that the fortuneteller mentioned."
The things that the townsfolk say will change, but again, it's not important.
Gossiping with the Townsfolk 2
Old man
"I saw it. The priest was walking together with a pretty woman."
"When I was young, I was very popular... Sorry, I lied."
Armoured woman
"The priest has returned. I went to the church to greet him, but..."
"How should I put it... Is that really the priest?"
"I guess finding treasure is an adventurer's joy."
Man in apron
"The church's roof is finally being repaired."
"I wonder which roof they'll fix next."
Woman by fountain
"My, it looks like the priest has returned."
"The first time I saw the priest, he seemed a bit serious."
"Aah, I get a wild feeling too. That's that."
Boy
"Don't go near the fortuneteller's house. That's what mama said."
You can visit Aira as well for a short scene.
Is That Really the Fortuneteller?
Aira
"Oh, welcome. Did you meet the fortuneteller?"
Chante
"Hey, is that fortuneteller truly successful?"
Aira
"Yes. Actually, I... don't go there to get my fortune."
Chante
"..."
Aira
"Ah, but, BUT it's true that she has a reputation of being very successful. The woman next door found (with pleasure) the wedding ring she'd lost." (lit. The wife next door)
Elise
"In any case, we're going to take a look around The remains of Fire since we don't have any other clues."
Aira
"Oh, remember to come back for dinner from now on."
"I have a new plan: fried bean curd made from the cartilage of skeletons."
Chante
"Eh, um, maybe another time."
Elise
"We're going now, Aira-san." (lit. We're going and coming back)
Aira
"Is that so...? Be careful. Don't overdo it."
"... and I had so much confidence making it."
