Ropers are additional annoyances (more so than Kobolds and Snow Bunnies, but possibly not as much as Bees). Ropers are unique enemies in that they can go through you (and you them), but touching them results in taking a hit as this is their method of attack. After an attack, they'll usually swing around and attack again. Another unique feature of Ropers is that they will steal HP from you. Although small at first, at higher levels, it's possible for them to be able to steal more HP than you can dish out.

Purple Ropers are unique amongst the other types in that when they get hit, they won't get thrown back. Keep this in mind, as using a melee hit must mean that you are sure it will kill it in that hit if you don't want to give it a chance to recover.
